Our 2022 Rotary Fishing Derby at the Seal Beach Pier was terrific. It’s so good to be back in person with all these kids for our 30th Annual Fishing Derby!

The kicked off with a  wonderful pancake breakfast provided by the Seal Beach Lions Club.

Then over 230 kids as old as 15 participated in the derby. The fun began at 7:30am and ended at noon with a total of 258 fish caught, weighed and released.   The largest fish caught was a 5-lb 3-oz Sand Shark.   First place winners in 3 age categories took home a trophy and fishing rod while 2nd place winners were awarded a fishing rod and 3rd place winners a tackle box.  In addition, Bait Runners, a local group of fishermen, donated one boys ad one girls bicycles.  At registration, all participants were given a free raffle ticket and the winners were selected during the awards ceremony at noon.
